Handoff: Make the queued UrlResolver PR writable and apply the saved cleanup

Written 2026-10-06 03:57:31 UTC.

RE-VERIFY: This current snapshot supersedes the historical body below. Use gh pr view on https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/pull/1169, GraphQL mergeQueueEntry, git ls-remote, and fetch main before acting. Supervisor owns all queue, merge, publication, deployment, and handoff-completion decisions.

BLOCKED — 2026-10-06 03:57:31 UTC

Assignment: drive handoff hf-2026-10-02-finish-urlresolver-review-round-one-runtime-proof-and-latency-measurement to LANDABLE, OUTDATED, or BLOCKED. Supervisor owns queue and merge decisions.

OBSERVED: https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/pull/1169 remains OPEN at 9e0f47e75f21d3647fd3d46c3c774e0671edf39d. The branch still includes the two investigation files the prior final review required removing. The saved cleanup commit caefb130a902e5f4c9a2ed0b2ce89afb110baef3 is still remote at https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/tree/wip/L21-urlresolver-f1-cleanup. Git diff and GitHub compare independently confirm exactly two deletions, 84 lines total, and no other change. Both removed files remain byte-identical on https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/tree/wip/L21-urlresolver-review-proof/investigations/dockerimages-list.

OBSERVED: Current main is 4fe061512ba91888439a2cf10608631bb99b6121. The PR is two main commits behind and eight commits ahead; it is not rebased on current main. GraphQL reports a live mergeQueueEntry, position 1, AWAITING_CHECKS, enqueued 2026-10-05T21:56:04Z, queue head 857b9485cd636fca0213903c3b9fb7078eb7b9f2. The handoff records the earlier branch update rejection with GH006 because queued PR branches cannot be updated. This lane performed no attempted push or queue mutation.

OBSERVED: PR-head check runs are bld-build=SUCCESS, kotlin.build (remote)=SUCCESS (summary: All tests passing (1898/1898)), and kotlin.build (kompile-remote-build)=FAILURE. The latter summary explicitly says it is informational and does not gate branch protection; it expired before dispatch. These checks belong to the old head and do not validate the saved cleanup or a current-main rebase. No remote suite, fail-first run, five-run test gate, or review pass was newly performed in this lane, so no LANDABLE verdict is claimed. Prior runtime proof/review claims are preserved as historical evidence, not newly confirmed behavioral results.

INFER: The mechanism blocking this correction is GitHub's queued-branch update restriction, and the evidence is the live queue entry plus the saved GH006 rejection. The single required artifact is a writable PR branch after supervisor queue action. Once available, apply the saved cleanup, rebase on current main, perform the required exact-head tests/review gates, and obtain new-head green checks. Do not merge the old queued head with the identified support-file finding. No artifact publication is needed for this correction.

OBSERVED: The handoff was read in full and claimed. Its reports endpoint returned []; the prior canonical body contains the prior lane's complete outcome and evidence links. Read the handoff triage README and repository README; no root AGENTS.md exists. Fresh clone is clean, with no stash, local-only commit, or code change. No tests were edited, no new PR was opened, no publication/deploy/restart occurred, and no agents or background watchers were started.

Delegated work: none. Landing parallelization sweep: this lane cannot update the queued PR; supervisor queue control is the sole dependency. Plan: live triage complete; implementation/test/review stage blocked before mutation; final report uploaded and claim released.

Next steps: supervisor makes the existing PR writable, then the saved two-file correction and current-main verification can proceed before its final merge decision.

Lesson: OPEN and green does not mean a branch is writable; check queue state before editing a queued PR. A saved correction on a separate remote branch preserves the work without changing queue state.

STATUS: BLOCKED Supervisor must make the queued PR branch writable before cleanup caefb130a and current-main rebase can be applied.

Preserved historical snapshot from 2026-10-04

The following is retained for its mission, proof details, evidence branch table, and prior rejection. Its state claims are historical. The four live refs and current queue/main/check state above supersede their earlier values; the remaining historical evidence refs were not newly reverified by this lane.

Handoff: Dequeue the UrlResolver PR and apply the two-file cleanup before merging

Written 2026-10-04 15:26:36 UTC. Original effort began 2026-10-02.

RE-VERIFY: This is a write-time snapshot. Recheck https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/pull/1169 with gh pr view <url> --json state, headRefOid,mergeStateStatus, statusCheckRollup, mergedAt and GraphQL mergeQueueEntry. Verify all refs with git ls-remote and fetch main. Supervisor owns every queue, merge, deploy, publication and handoff-completion decision. The cleanup has NOT landed on the PR branch.

Mission summary

The original user reported slow or failing url:// web UI pages and wanted their underlying causes fixed. This handoff's round was “finish round one from the saved r55 checkpoint, verify the saved fix, prove the tests, push the PR branch, and perform one CI watch.” Runtime proof and latency measurement were completed. Supervisor final review then required exactly one correction: remove investigations/dockerimages-list/R30WuiReproducer.java and its README from the product diff, preserving them on an evidence branch and replacing their PR-description location with that link. No other code change is authorized; coordinate stays 0.0.1307.

Remaining work: supervisor must make the queued PR writable, apply saved cleanup commit caefb130a902e5f4c9a2ed0b2ce89afb110baef3, then obtain new-head required green and perform final review/merge. This lane reached NEEDS_USER because GitHub rejected the branch update while the PR was queued. No merge, enqueue/dequeue, deploy, publish, CI rerequest or new test submission occurred.

What was found and done

  1. Previous round's proven mechanism: image handle conversion eagerly called downloadTarball() because every zero-argument non-void abstract method was captured. The PR restricts capture to uppercase getX and Boolean uppercase isX getters; mixed interfaces retain live guest proxies. Naming is not an I/O detector: getTarball still qualifies. Host-class collisions and erased nested list shape also have fail-first guards. Map extraction and partial capture were expressly excluded from that round.
  2. Nested getter-only handles originally returned cached values after their owner closed. The fail-first public guard was 0 passed/1 failed because SandboxException was absent. Two recursive conversions discarded bulkProxyFactory and its owner tracker; forwarding it makes the same guard pass 1/1. Prior review data: eight scenarios plus two guards 10/10, saved neighbors 66/66, real-SJVM measurement 1/1. Actual 47×7 workload: 330 RPCs (329 getters + one list), zero operations; conversion 297.581169 ms + reads 1746.207032 ms = 2043.788201 ms. Times exclude construction/network and do not prove production latency or a full OOM mechanism. Full logs/XML/source are on the owner-proof branch.
  3. Reverified the original PR head 9e0f47e75f21d3647fd3d46c3c774e0671edf39d: OPEN, main-based, both required suites SUCCESS 1898/1898. Separate informational kompile-remote-build failed before dispatch. Earlier raw transport attempt failures are preserved in the previous canonical snapshot and owner-proof evidence; their final successful rows do not establish that intermittent mechanisms disappeared. No related transport correction is claimed.
  4. Both consumer investigation files match byte-for-byte on r55 and on the newly preserved lane evidence branch. Git blobs: Java a82fb95de77d36640fd253b2b9f1d0f7378fee9a, README aeaad96a3432f83606bfe80cc0877a3aa2723393. Their useful consumer evidence is salvaged; they are not discarded.
  5. Prepared the exact deletion commit, fetched/rebased origin/main (main remains 1053ace97e38d3a3ee85294b07a3f8465adf6fd0), and verified git diff 9e0f47e7..caefb130a --stat: only Java 49 lines deleted and investigation README 35 lines deleted, two files/84 deletions. Source, tests, fixtures, build rules, CI, product README and resolver coordinate are unchanged. Seven scope checks passed, zero failed. Separate test-comprehensiveness and adversarial passes found no added issue; written in evidence findings.
  6. Explicit expected-head force-with-lease push to the PR branch was rejected: GH006: Protected branch update failed and “A pull request for this branch has been added to a merge queue. Branches that are queued for merging cannot be updated. To modify this branch, dequeue the associated pull request.” GraphQL confirms entry MQE_lQDOQjgD7s8AAAABGT6ZQ84AApmtzgMW8As, enqueued 2026-10-04T13:36:09Z, position 2, state AWAITING_CHECKS. The lane did not dequeue. Cleanup is durably pushed to a separate branch. No new PR-head checks exist because the push failed; no watch was started on the old green head.
  7. PR description was updated successfully with exactly the requested evidence-link sentence. R30 was already absent and remains absent. The original why-first opening and all other description content are retained. The branch still contains the two files pending supervisor queue action.
  8. The latest recorded branch push before this lane was the expected predecessor's 2026-10-04T10:33:40Z update to 9e0f47e7; live ref and paginated events show no intervening update. The expected predecessor was within twelve hours; the lane interpreted the brief's no-other-push rule as preventing a newer concurrent update. An explicit expected-head lease guarded that head.
  9. Evidence checkpoints were pushed from the first milestone and remote SHAs verified. Clean working tree, no stash/local-only commit, one fresh clone /code/ws/L21/UrlResolver-f1. No owned background build, watcher or status loop remains. No other PR/handoff was modified. The previous canonical body is retained on the lane evidence branch as investigations/L21/f1-handoff-before.md so its full history remains available.

No satellite closure is recommended now. Keep eligible PR and cleanup branch until F1 is applied; keep all evidence branches unmerged through supervisor review. No new salvage PR is needed while the parent PR remains open. No artifact was published or production service changed by this lane; its actions were repository reads, two evidence pushes, cleanup checkpoint push, one rejected PR push and description/handoff writes.

Next steps

  1. Re-verify current state first. Question for supervisor: Will you dequeue https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/pull/1169 so the saved F1 cleanup can be applied before merging? Recommended: dequeue and apply the correction; leaving the old queued head unchanged lands the identified support-file finding. If it merged meanwhile, use a fresh main-targeted cleanup PR after checking for a concurrent duplicate.
  2. After supervisor dequeue, confirm OPEN/expected head. Fetch both branches and main; apply the single deletion commit from the cleanup branch to the eligible PR branch (or fast-forward to it if the expected head is unchanged), rebase current origin/main, and verify only those two files differ from 9e0f47e7. Coordinate must remain 0.0.1307. Push with force-with-lease. Do not carry evidence files into the PR. Description correction is already done.
  3. The successful PR push dispatches checks. Start tracked timeout 5400 build-watchman --repo CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver --pr 1169, plain mode, no --to-merged and no rerequest. New head invalidates the old green result. If required green, supervisor performs final review/merge. If provisioning/infra failure or unfinished at deadline, record exact head/state and CHECKPOINT for supervisor. No new test submission is authorized by this narrow correction brief.
  4. Supervisor owns normal queue/merge and handoff-completion decisions. Publication and production deployment are not part of this handoff round.

Reusable / operational knowledge

Check mergeQueueEntry as well as OPEN/head before updating a PR: queued branches cannot be pushed. An OPEN PR and a successful local rebase do not imply its branch is writable. Preserve cleanup on a separate branch when queue control belongs to someone else; never bypass protection.

Use final GitHub required-check summaries, not raw attempt rows or missing WUI data, for the required verdict. kotlin.build (remote) remains mandatory even if protection discovery is empty. Informational kompile-remote-build failure is a separate dispatch observation, not the required remote verdict.

Earlier runs discovered empty inputFileHashes in per-checkout support/resolver result records; the saved runner documents narrow invalidation. Setup compile failure is not a behavior reproducer. XML uses test success attributes. On this host prepend /code/ws/bin to PATH; use working cs and avoid the wrong-architecture coursier. This correction launched no build and required no shim.

Required reading: handoff README “Triaging handoffs”/“Format”/remote-work rule; Engineering Philosophy; Testing Architecture; Code Review “Work-in-Progress Support Files” and “Claims That a Host Is Overloaded”; repository README (no root AGENTS). Final findings: /tmp/claude-1000/-code/4127b3f9-6050-446f-a28d-b0511dacd396/scratchpad/hq/out/L21-findings.md, with durable copy and exact two review sections on the lane evidence branch.
