Handoff: Finish the UrlResolver alias-ping reproducer and baseline repair
Written 2026-10-19 09:26 UTC.
RE-VERIFY: This is a write-time snapshot. Recheck each linked PR with gh pr view --json state, headRefOid,mergeStateStatus, statusCheckRollup, mergedAt; read the native XML attempt histories and exact source heads before acting. No merge or deployment authorization is carried by this handoff.
Design decisions in force
The owner asked: "Get the exact failing test names and full error messages for both runs" and "Report the classification table to out/r74-findings.md within 30 minutes — that is the first deliverable; I decide merges from it."
The owner required: "Never raise timeouts, cut iterations, weaken assertions or skip tests. Do not merge, enqueue, re-run CI, publish or deploy." "Disk rule: df -h / before any clone/build; stop under 10 GB; delete clones and ~/.aibuildcaches entries you create." "Commits end with Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 noreply@anthropic.com; PR bodies end with 🤖 Generated with Claude Code." Do not push to any of the three original PR branches. The unresolved baseline failure needs a stable fail-first reproducer, a written mechanism before fixing, independent test/code reviews and a new PR from main. The completed classification does not authorize merging.
Mission and remaining work
The original remote-check classification and exact address-head validation are complete. Finish the remaining baseline alias-ping diagnosis and repair without guessing. One native current-main first attempt reproduced the same ping assertion, but the constrained discovery profile changed from6/10 failures to0/10 on unchanged main. No stable deterministic trigger or justified fix exists. A question about an injected ManualClock remains pending with the owner; changing the resolver clock alone is not proven to solve the relay's independent wall-clock read. The existing issue is https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/issues/1322 .
The production-outage background was supplied as: user asked "figure out what went wrong, reproduce it in a test (TDD), fix it, merge and deploy". This narrower brief explicitly withheld merge/deploy authorization, which takes precedence here.

Evidence archive only, no PR, no fix. Intentional forensic XML/logs/scripts are under handoffs/artifacts/2026-10-19-r74-remote-checks. No jars/classes/caches/credentials. |
Durable findings and complete archive: https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/PlanRepository/tree/wip/r74-remote-check-evidence-20261019/handoffs/artifacts/2026-10-19-r74-remote-checks . Native XML and result pages permit count verification without a CI rerun. Scripts show the original out/ + workspace/ layout; rebuild the exact source and recapture the temporary native runtime before using the direct-call helper. Build outputs are omitted deliberately and can be regenerated. All UrlResolver/UrlProtocol worktrees, local branches and stashes were clean; no source changes or partial fixes exist outside this archive.
Deployed/published-but-unmerged: none from this work. No publish, deployment, restart, enqueue or merge was issued. A worker accidentally omitted --local once, creating remote run https://buildtest.kotlin.build/run?id=25556510 ; root stopped it immediately, it is CANCELED with0/0 tests, and it is excluded from every count. Future commands must specify --local explicitly.
Next steps
- Re-verify the snapshot and read the complete findings below and archived native XML. Do not treat canonical pass counts as native first-attempt passes.
- Resolve the owner's pending timing question: may this route-correctness test use an injected ManualClock while retaining its1000ms configured budget and every route/result assertion? This was asked because changing elapsed-time behavior may conflict with the explicit no-weakened-assertion rule; it is not permission granted. The relay has a separate SystemClock response read, so verify that boundary before assuming a test-clock edit fixes anything.
- If wall-clock semantics remain required, continue the owning-code-path investigation and force a deterministic condition, rather than tuning concurrency to one host. Timestamp probes found successful but late replies; no dropped-response mechanism was proven. The earlier instrumented cleanup stall has an incomplete lock chain and must not be treated as diagnosed.
- Establish a reliable fail-first reproducer, write the exact mechanism, then fix the owning layer. If an upstream artifact is required, do not publish under the current prohibition; get explicit new direction instead of a downstream workaround.
- Review tests independently, review code independently, rebase from main, run appropriate local tests, commit with the required trailer, open a new code PR with why first and the required footer, and watch its required checks without re-running CI. Do not merge.
- The address-head moved-provider test had an additional closed-old-port assertion in1/10 first attempts. It is recorded, not attributed to the original PRs or declared fixed. Avoid silently dropping that finding.
- Remove every new checkout/cache entry and stop bounded probes before stopping. Prior worker cleanup is complete; root cleanup is recorded in the final local findings/service report.
Handoff transport challenge
The documented handoff-cli0.0.8 health command failed twice with an ambiguous pending-RPC close and EOF(read0of4); the Handoff web UI returned200 with live dashboard data. No service restart was attempted. The automatic report-challenge CLI was not used because it enqueues/merges, contrary to the owner. This handoff uses the available canonical service web path if CLI transport stays unusable; the evidence archive is independent of that transport. The older linked handoffs README's auto-merge exception is not authorization and was not followed.

Started: 2026-10-19 08:14 UTC. First classification deliverable due by 08:44 UTC.
Plan
- DONE: Retrieved every declared canonical result row for both supplied runs and exact full failure stacks. Raw logs reached finite HTTP deadlines; paged results supplied the complete inventory.
- DONE: Classified all five observed failures using main remote evidence. No PR regression is claimed; matched first attempts are still required before any category-(c) conclusion.
- DONE: Complete classification table published here at 08:37 UTC, within 30 minutes.
- DONE: Validated exact announce-address head locally with PUBLIC_IP set: original public-IP mismatch absent; registry-preference first attempts10/10, moved-provider9/10 plus one successful retry after a different closed-port assertion. Full counts below.
- BLOCKED ON REPRODUCER / OWNER DIRECTION: Alias issue filed: https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/issues/1322 . Current-main native failure is proven. A stable deterministic reproducer and fail-first fix remain required; the constrained discovery profile varied from6/10 failures to0/10 on unchanged main. No repair is justified from those counts.
- TODO: Review results, stop tracked processes, delete task-created clones and aibuildcache entries.
Constraints
Do not push to the three supplied PR branches. No merging, enqueueing, CI reruns, publishing, or deploying. No timeout increases, iteration reductions, weakened assertions, skipped tests. Check disk before every clone/build and stop below 10 GB. Commit trailer and PR footer must match the brief.
Observations
- Initial disk check: 66 GB available.
- Read required global Claude instructions, flake skill, and BuildTest endpoint memory; reading remaining supporting instructions.
08:20 UTC checkpoint
OBSERVED: Both supplied PR heads remain OPEN and unchanged. Their two named active-query address tests fail at the exact final address equality, with loopback expected and executor public IP actual. Full failure text is saved in out/evidence/*-failures.json. Results paging accepts page (1-based) and limit in [1,500]. Page 1 and last-page retrieval succeed; some middle pages and raw log requests return 503 or reach the finite HTTP deadline. Retrieval continues with smaller pages.
INFERENCE: Four address failures match category (a), pending unchanged-main confirmation. There may be another independent failure in the peer-retention run; it has not yet been identified, so no category is assigned to it.
Address validation execution plan
- Use an independent fresh checkout under workspace/UrlResolver-address; disk-check before clone/build.
- Run the two unmodified named existing tests locally with PUBLIC_IP=203.0.113.7 on unchanged main to confirm matching assertions.
- Check exact announce-address head 19b86bb71cde66617de9da3d4a26d994d744069b with the same PUBLIC_IP, collect ten native first attempts per test, and preserve full XML/logs outside the checkout.
- Report canonical and first-attempt counts separately. Delete the created checkout and only its cache entries. No source edits, pushes, CI submissions, merges, publication, or deployment.
First classification table — complete remote failure inventory (published 2026-10-19 08:37 UTC)
All distinct rows retrieved: 2,078/2,078 for sandbox run, 2,074/2,074 for peer-retention run. Deduplication key is projectName + testName. Paging: page is 1-based; limit is 1–500. Pages are sorted by test name. Large middle-page requests sometimes returned 503; 100-row pages filled the coverage. complete=false is not treated as an empty result or a pass; all declared rows were counted explicitly. Server supplied reconciliationPending=true; these are canonical stored results, not native attempt histories.

(b) Existing main failure; reproduced on unchanged current main |
Same exact assertion and 1000ms ping-timeout message occur in main run 8be3a129, 2026-10-16, main commit ee6885733e4aa933038a3ff82860291f044f52e9. The PR records handlerCalls=1 versus historical main handlerCalls=0; this establishes a pre-existing failing test/message, not a proven shared response-loss mechanism. Main 0b43fb0d passed canonically. Current main 046396a reproduced the exact ping assertion in 1/10 native first attempts (PUBLIC_IP unset to avoid the separate setup defect); its automatic second attempt passed. See the 09:04 checkpoint for counts. |

Main evidence provenance
gh api repos/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/commits/main/check-runs directly links the unchanged current main commit's required remote check to run 0b43fb0d. Its first results page contains the two matching address failures. Saved in out/evidence/main-check-runs.json and out/evidence/0b43fb0d-results-p1.json. Alias case in out/evidence/0b43fb0d-small-p12.json is PASSED; this does not refute an intermittent main defect.
Mechanism established for category (a)
Main configurePublicAnnounceAddresses(host) reads PUBLIC_IP then writes that host's TCP ports into process-wide AnnounceAddressConfig.setAnnounceAddresses. The two tests normalize expected peer descriptors to loopback but receive the process public-IP address in the service-query reply. The equality shows the same TCP port and peer ID, so this result alone is not evidence of wrong address ordering. Exact announce-address head validation is running in a separate owned checkout.
08:25 UTC checkpoint — alias investigation
OBSERVED: Alias case PASSED canonically on both current-main remote run 0b43fb0d and sandbox run 48bf4828. This is not a native first-attempt count; attempt history is absent from the deployed endpoint response. The current BuildTestWui source documents attemptHistoryState and attempts, but deployed responses do not have those fields, so missing history is not interpreted as no retries.
OBSERVED: The peer-retention production diff changes only the age predicate inside pruneOfflinePeers. The alias test never calls that function, uses real system time, and finished after about nine seconds. The only background call waits 60 seconds before its first pass. This rules out execution of that changed predicate in this recorded test body, though it does not by itself supply the requested unchanged-main failure.
OBSERVED: Initial local targeted main build remains active. It performs whole-workspace dependency-pin checks before running the one selector and has emitted existing pin notices. No test verdict yet; no notice was changed or suppressed.
INFERENCE: Main failure is still to be demonstrated locally. Do not label the alias result (c) from a single main canonical pass.
Alias route working invariant table (no fix selected)
| Resource |
Creator / owner / closer |
Observable contract |
Re-entry, mid-operation close, restart |
| Persistent RPC connection |
Client open / caller owns / use closes |
A written ping returns its correlated pong or reports its actual transport outcome within the original request budget. |
Explicit close is terminal; written siblings keep their own result rights; a new open creates fresh state. |
| Relay-backed adapter pipes and worker |
Resolver controller / persistent transport / controller close |
Accepted complete request reaches one relay operation; its reply reaches the persistent reader with original request ID. |
Close wakes both pipe directions and stops owned worker; no publication after close; no persisted adapter state. |
| Relay forwarding attempt |
Relay service / request-owned attempt / completion or cancellation |
At most one target invocation after dispatch becomes possible; successful target reply must be returned to caller. |
A lost reply cannot cause an unmarked request to be sent again. Caller expiry does not claim target was uninvoked. |
| Host and public announce state |
Resolver creates host / resolver owns host; explicit config is caller-owned |
Test nodes remain isolated and use their actual host ports and identity. |
One host starting cannot replace another host's address; close cannot restart a host; explicit config restored by fixture. |
Hypothesis checked and refuted: a missing flush in RelayBackedRpcController could delay Java pipe reads by 1000 ms. The pinned UrlProtocol 0.0.1421 Libp2pRpcProtocol.writeMessage bytecode calls OutputStream.flush after writing, and the client flushes its request pipe, so the source does not support that proposed mechanism. No patch was made.
08:35 UTC status checkpoint
RUNNING: all five canonical failures and stacks are retained. Category (a) is confirmed for four rows by exact assertion comparison with the current main check. Fifth-row baseline comparison remains in progress, with no unsupported PR-causation claim. Initial local main alias run is genuinely compiling production code: its buildscript child thread dump is RUNNABLE in Kotlin type resolution, not blocked on the test's ping. Address worker also has an active buildscript child. No test attempt has run yet on either local command.
Freshly checked: https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/pull/1317, https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/pull/1318, https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/pull/1316 are OPEN / UNSTABLE, with supplied heads unchanged. No merge/queue/deploy/publication action is underway. One delegated validation worker is active; root owns diagnosis. Remaining work is unchanged-main alias evidence, exact address-head validation, then any independently reproduced fix warranted by the evidence.
Landing sweep: landing operations are expressly prohibited by this brief. Owner direction: the original brief remains the only task direction; constraints are recorded above. Lessons so far: explicitly count paged result coverage; keep canonical and first-attempt counts distinct; source path exclusion does not manufacture a main reproduction.
Completed first-deliverable classification — 2026-10-19 08:37 UTC
All five failures now have evidence-backed categories: four (a), one (b), no (c) established. This table was completed before the 08:44 UTC deadline. It classifies the observed failures; it does not claim either required check is green or authorize merging.
Historical-main provenance: gh api .../commits/ee6885733e4aa933038a3ff82860291f044f52e9/check-runs links the required main check directly to run 8be3a129. This main commit is a first-parent ancestor of current main; committed 2026-10-16 18:13:19 UTC. The test ran 2026-10-16 19:43:40 UTC. The same test body and assertions were present; the only test-file difference to current main is the libp2p annotation pin from snapshot-26 to snapshot-32. Production dependencies have also changed since that main run, so its existence is not a substitute for a current-main local reproduction when investigating the precise mechanism. The eight subsequent first-parent main runs sampled here plus current main show canonical passes for this test, not first-attempt passes. These are not ten matched PR-versus-main samples and do not support category (c).
The recorded PR failure has targetHandlerCalls=1 whereas historical main has targetHandlerCalls=0; I will investigate that distinction rather than assume both lost their response at the same layer. Both fail at the same wrapper assertion with the same complete ping-timeout message and RpcRoutingDiagnostics(directAttempts=1,fixedDiscoveryWaits=0,refreshesInFlight=1).

08:38 UTC checkpoint
OBSERVED: The address worker's redundant local main preparation command reached its pre-set 900s deadline without executing tests or writing native XML (exit 124). This is not a failure of either address assertion, and supplies zero test attempts. Existing main remote evidence remains the category-(a) baseline. The worker is moving to exact announce-address head 19b86bb7 for the requested validation. Root's separately bounded main alias build continues.
Issue filed per the requested sequence: https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlResolver/issues/1322 . No independent local root-cause validation is claimed; the issue explicitly distinguishes existing observed failures from the ongoing reproduction experiment.
08:42 UTC process correction
OBSERVED: The address worker omitted --local on its first fixed-head build command. Kompile defaults that invocation to --local-and-remote. Root caught the log showing a BuildTest connection, told the worker to stop immediately, and the worker terminated the entire known command tree. The full log has no run ID or submission marker, so remote acceptance is unknown; no result from that invocation is counted. This was an execution error, not a change to the authorized scope. The replacement build's actual /proc cmdline was verified to include --local. Evidence: out/address-validation/fixed-build-default-mode.log and fixed-local build records. Root remains responsible for the delegated result.
08:43 UTC current-main local control
OBSERVED: Main build completed successfully in 1,096,155 ms. Local PUBLIC_IP=203.0.113.7 alias invocation finished with a real assertion failure and native XML: out/evidence/main-alias-01.xml. It fails at test line 78, BEFORE ping, because registration addresses are /ip4/203.0.113.7/... instead of containing loopback. This is another manifestation of category (a), NOT a reproduction of the remote alias ping timeout. The two failure modes must not be conflated. Full native stack/output is preserved in XML and main-alias-01.log.
OBSERVED: Starting a separate unchanged-main control with PUBLIC_IP unset to reach the ping route; this differs from the required environment-set condition and will be reported separately. No source or test changed.
Native PUBLIC_IP-set main alias result: first-attempt passes 0/1, raw 0 pass / 3 fail (automatic runner attempts 1–3). All three failures are the loopback SETUP assertion, not ping. These counts are excluded from any ping-timeout failure rate.
At 08:43 UTC the first deliverable remains complete: category (a) for the four supplied address assertions and category (b) for the supplied alias ping failure, with the historical-main dependency/handler-count caveats above. Current-main PUBLIC_IP-set alias control adds a separate deterministic setup failure (0/1 first passes; raw 0/3), not evidence of the ping mechanism. The unset-PUBLIC_IP current-main control is in progress.
08:46 UTC checkpoint
OBSERVED: Unset-PUBLIC_IP current-main alias control passed on native attempt 1 (1/1). XML: out/evidence/main-alias-no-publicip-01.xml. Selected test elapsed 21,922 ms. A finite batch of nine additional unchanged-main native invocations is starting, each retaining XML and full logs, with no environment PUBLIC_IP, no test change and no retry change. The runner's own automatic attempts remain visible. This is a ping-path reproduction series, not the environment-set address validation.
OBSERVED: Accidental default-mode worker invocation did submit remote run https://buildtest.kotlin.build/run?id=25556510 . The service record says CANCELED at 08:39:29.153Z, Build was cancelled by user: kompile-cli process interrupted, with zero passed and zero failed tests. No additional cancellation was needed. It is excluded from every validation count. Explicit-local replacement continues.
08:53 UTC exact current-main ping reproduction
OBSERVED: Native first attempt 1 in out/main-alias-repeats/03.xml failed with the exact remote ping-timeout assertion, handlerCalls=1. Its automatic second attempt passed. Current main is still 046396a677e14cf950dc7c3d102cbc2c187b75a1, unchanged source/tests, PUBLIC_IP unset. This strengthens category (b) with current code and the same handler-called outcome; it is separate from the PUBLIC_IP-set setup failure. Current native series: 2/3 first passes, raw 3 passes/1 fail. A reliable >=50% reproducer is NOT established yet.

08:56 UTC amplification experiment
OBSERVED: Supplementary direct invocation of the unchanged compiled test through a small static Java entrypoint, with the captured native classpath/agent and identical JVM flags, completed10/10 successfully using two concurrent genuine test processes. This is NOT native runner XML or a matched PR comparison and does not establish a reliable failure rate. Runtime jars were copied outside the checkout solely to preserve diagnostic reproducibility. The next diagnostic profile sets ActiveProcessorCount=2 (matching executor reported vCPUs) while retaining128MB heap and all original test bounds; any failure must still be diagnosed and converted to a deterministic contract test before fixing.
08:59 UTC reliable diagnostic trigger
OBSERVED: Two concurrent genuine instances of the unchanged compiled alias test, using96MB heap, SerialGC and ActiveProcessorCount=2, failed6/10 (4/10 passes), all at the exact1000ms ping-timeout wrapper assertion. Four failures record handlerCalls=1; two record0. No OOM, setup failure or raised timeout occurred. Full logs, source/runtime manifest, flags and exit records: out/alias-probe/serial-96m/. These are supplementary direct calls of the existing compiled public test function, not native-runner XML or matched PR-vs-main samples. The unmodified128MB/default-GC profile and128MB/two-processor profile each passed10/10 in the same direct harness.
INFERENCE: This is a useful discovery trigger, not yet a deterministic contract reproducer. The owning mechanism is still unknown, and no fix has been written. Next experiment adds diagnostic timestamps/GC logs to locate where the ping budget is spent, then forces that exact condition.
09:04 UTC checkpoint
OBSERVED: Current unchanged main native alias series completed ten independent first attempts: 9 passed and 1 failed with the exact ping-timeout assertion. The failed first attempt passed its automatic second attempt: raw 10 passes/1 failure; canonical 10 passes/0 failures. PUBLIC_IP was unset for this separate ping experiment because setting it causes the known earlier address setup assertion. No PR-versus-main matched sample is claimed. Logs/XML: out/main-alias-repeats/ plus the initial out/evidence/main-alias-no-publicip-01.xml.
OBSERVED: Diagnostic debug tracing at the previously recorded 96MB/SerialGC/two-processor profile completed four cases, 3 passes/1 exact ping failure. In the failing case the selected relay forwarded the request at 12.127s; the provider listener received it at 12.149s; the client expired at 12.644s. No relay response was logged before expiry. GC pauses were 267ms before that request and 60ms after expiry, so a full-budget GC pause is not supported by this trace. HandlerCalls=1 establishes that application dispatch did occur. The response path needs finer tracing; its cause remains unknown. No production fix has been written.
OBSERVED: Exact announce-address head validation is running explicitly locally with PUBLIC_IP=203.0.113.7 from 09:00 UTC; build setup is still active. No test counts exist yet. A fresh UrlProtocol checkout is being read to trace RelayService, not to assume that layer owns the defect.
09:12 UTC return-path trace and pending direction
OBSERVED: A second timestamp-probe series on unchanged main reproduced 6/10 exact ping failures (five handlerCalls=1, one handlerCalls=0). Timing table: out/alias-probe/stages-v4/timings.json. Example case03: provider handler started396.72ms after request entry, returned576.86ms, relay built its successful return971.29ms, relay send completed987.28ms, adapter began writing1009.78ms, caller expired1001.31ms. This is a late successful response, not evidence of a missing response. Case06 finished the adapter write near980ms, then a measured77ms young GC crossed the caller deadline before the response reader completed. The other cases have different stage distributions. These diagnostics alter timing and are excluded from native counts.
OBSERVED: An earlier instrumented case stalled during cleanup. Thread dumps show main waiting for the peer verification publication monitor, whose owner waits for a peer-registry stripe; a Netty reader also waits inside PeerRegistry.tryAddValidatedPeer's ConcurrentHashMap.compute. No owning virtual-thread dump was captured, so the complete lock mechanism is not established. The90s outer deadline terminated that process. This is separate from the exact ping assertion evidence; no lock fix is being guessed.
INFERENCE: Current evidence supports a test tied to wall-clock scheduling of cold multi-node relay setup, rather than a demonstrated discarded response. The documented request contract includes connection/relay setup in one total request budget, so moving that cost outside the deadline would change behavior rather than explain this test failure. A route-correctness test using an injected ManualClock would separate routing assertions from host scheduling while retaining the numeric1000ms budget, but also changes how expiry advances. Asked the owner explicitly whether that is permitted by the no-timeout-increase/no-weakened-assertion constraint. No dependent edit will be made before an answer. Meanwhile exact address-head validation and evidence preservation continue.
09:15 UTC exact address-head validation — complete, independently parsed
Runtime: exact head19b86bb71cde66617de9da3d4a26d994d744069b; PUBLIC_IP=203.0.113.7; explicit --local; original test bounds/assertions unchanged. Ten native rounds each selected the same three tests. Root independently parsed every <attempt-history>, not only canonical <test> rows. Dependency pins and alias test source match main. Counts:

OBSERVED: None of these31 raw attempts reproduced either original PUBLIC_IP final-address-equality mismatch. However, the moved-provider test had one different first-attempt failure in round09: the old configured port was attempted and refused, violating the warning-free moved-registry-address assertion one line before the original final-address assertion. The automatic retry passed. This validation therefore supports removal of the known PUBLIC_IP symptom but is not a clean10/10 first-attempt result for the moved-provider scenario. No main-vs-fixed attribution is claimed for this newly observed assertion.
Exact new first-attempt stack:

Evidence: out/address-validation/fixed-round-01.xml through fixed-round-10.xml; root-verified-counts.json. Earlier worker updates counted final rows; these retry-aware counts supersede them.
09:17 UTC pending constraint and validation follow-through
OBSERVED: Source inspection adds a limit to the proposed ManualClock test repair: RelayService.sendViaRelay calls RelayConnection.readMessage(timeout, unit), which delegates to RelayStreamController's SystemClock overload. A resolver ManualClock alone therefore does not make the whole relayed request deterministic. No claim is made that changing the test clock alone fixes the observed failure. The owner was informed while the question remains pending.
OBSERVED: All original PR heads remain OPEN/UNSTABLE at their supplied SHAs as of09:13 UTC. No PR source branch was changed, no issue beyond1322 was opened, and no fix PR exists. Exact address-head source/dependency validation is complete. One additional bounded alias-only local invocation is being used solely to capture the address-head runtime jar after the test runner removed its temporary artifact; it will be reported separately from the completed ten-round sample. This permits an independent same-profile comparison without changing any test or deadline.
09:24 UTC final investigation checkpoint before handoff
OBSERVED: Exact address-head supplementary serial96 profile passed10/10 with PUBLIC_IP=203.0.113.7, using the captured fixed resolver jar (sha256 e2b6eecbd930dff33b3ca97ea311fe113ef13b82ad4d4fe5a09bc78635875d2a). Immediately repeated unchanged-main serial96 control also passed10/10 with PUBLIC_IP unset. The same discovery profile previously failed6/10 on main. These are not matched first attempts for the two original PRs, nor proof that the address head fixes ping. The observed variability means the >=50% reproducer requirement is not stably met. The08:59 'reliable diagnostic trigger' wording above means the measured initial batch only, and is superseded by this control. No artificial load was used and no assertion, timeout or iteration count was changed.
OBSERVED: The address worker completed cleanup of its clone and both exact path-keyed cache entries; no worker or capture process remains. All root diagnostic/test batches and their bounded watches have ended. No production/test source changes exist in UrlResolver or UrlProtocol, no commits exist there, and their worktrees/stashes were clean in the handoff sweep. No original PR branch was pushed.
OBSERVED: handoff-cli0.0.8 health failed twice with the same closed pending RPC / EOF(read0of4) message, while the Handoff WUI returned HTTP200 with live dashboard data. No service restart or deployment was attempted. The current skill's CLI-first process is being used where available; its older linked README's automatic-merge instructions are superseded by the user's explicit no-merge rule. The automatic report-challenge command is also not used because it enqueues/merges; the challenge will be preserved without a merge.
PENDING: Owner question from09:11 about whether route-correctness timing may be driven by an injected ManualClock while keeping1000ms and all route/result assertions. This is not yet an approved fix and is not known to solve the separate relay wall-clock wait. If the owner keeps wall-clock semantics, continue diagnosis and force an exact code-path condition before editing. Do not guess a production fix or loosen the existing test.
