the status endpoint uses bounded candidate selection. Candidates are chosen from the listing alone with L1's
selectUploadJobIds(listing, nowMillis, limit = 5): newest job records first by storage upload time (id descending on ties), skipping jobs whose end record was stored more than 10 minutes before now. Exactly those candidates' job records and end records are read (≤5 + ≤5 reads). Abandoned candidates are then dropped without back-filling from older jobs. Consequence, which you document in README and pin with a test: if more than five jobs are unfinished at once, only the newest five are considered, so an older one still running is not shown. That is accepted.
Other original requirements: server side only; do not change UploadScript.kt or page HTML. Use tinysite.conventions:tinysite-conventions:0.0.7 for record/progress/selection logic rather than reimplementing it. Keep branch feature/upload-job-server. Start/end/deploy writes use the site's deploy coordination. In-memory state is bounded and lost on restart; persistent records live only in Filedrop. Chunks refused by storage do not count. Added three new HTTP tests, no implementation or existing tests changed:
Take six job records, all stored over 60 minutes ago, with no end records. One blob was committed a minute ago. Every job selects one one-byte file and declares needsUpload=true. In one valid storage state, the recent blob belongs to the oldest job; the newer five jobs declare still-missing blobs. Required response: the oldest job is running and must be returned; the five newer jobs are abandoned and must be omitted. A fresh WUI cannot know which job declares that blob until it reads the job's JSON. Job filenames, JSON byte sizes (all digests have the same length), and storage timestamps do not encode the job-to-blob mapping. More generally, for any algorithm reading at most five of six records, hold the five read records fixed and change only the unread record's sha256 between the recent blob and a missing blob. Both snapshots have identical listings and identical answers to all allowed reads, yet require different responses. Thus exact qualifying selection and the read budget cannot both hold. The additional wording 'never read records of jobs outside that set' is even stronger: when all jobs are abandoned, the response set is empty, so no job read would be allowed, although identifying abandonment requires the job contents. L1 findings currently proposes newest-five candidate selection followed by filtering without filling from older jobs. That is an implementable contract change, but differs from literal selection of qualifying jobs. Awaiting owner's decision; no selection implementation written.
Concrete JSON metadata check: PASS. Six valid-shape job records: identical names, UTF-8 byte sizes and storage upload times in both snapshots. Started a local targeted run with a 600-second outer deadline, after checking that only L4 had another local run active (two total, within brief limit). No tests had their timeouts changed.
No PR opened: the server selection contract remains unresolved, and no server implementation has been guessed. Independent code review identified same-server restart retaining the previous clock offset; a new HTTP ManualClock regression is authored to run red before reset. Also checking late async chunk callback after stop/restart as a lifecycle invariant before adopting a fix. Conventions0.0.7 published signatures consumed; all progress/selection/record logic remains in dependency. Independent code review /tmp/l2-review-findings.md closed all3 accepted findings against latest source. Independent test review /tmp/l2-test-review-findings.md has no remaining must-fix gaps after cross-site bounds, exact selected end reads, chunk/end and competing ends, unknown outcomes, full validation errors and same-server restart tests.
The proposed accepted-chunk-over-declared-total experiment is REFUTED for the actual public Filedrop path: uploadFileChunk calculates expectedChunkSize for each valid index and refuses any different decoded size, so accepted unique chunks cannot exceed declared total. Source evidence /tmp/l2-filedrop-library.kt:1041-1058 and its fixed expectedChunkSize calculation. HTTP differing-length retry checks storage's answer and preserves prior bytes on refusal; normal complete staging pins 100%/declared total. Arbitrary in-flight map capping is already L1's tested pure calculation, not reimplemented.
Origin/main advanced to a2dd126 (https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/TinySiteWui/pull/19). Rebased the initial failing-test commit (now8b9615c). Autostash restoration had one begin coordination conflict. Stopped that pending local test launch immediately (exit143, no test result), resolved preserving upstream shared per-digest serialKey admission, checked no unresolved files, fetched/rebased again, and launched /tmp/l2-all-targeted.xml for all14 upload-job scenarios. Existing concurrent commit behavior is retained. Job/deploy/status operations remain exclusive barriers; counters synchronize across independent digest operations.
Edits to previously authored tests (none from origin/main):
/tmp/l2-all-targeted.xml:14 tests, FIRST ATTEMPT14 passed/0 failed; no attempt-history entries. Slowest new scenario held-chunk stop/restart10.331s; no timeout changes required. All three reliable review regressions flipped from red to green. Other durations3.450–6.932s. Saved full runner console /tmp/l2-all-targeted.log.
Committed reviewed implementation and14 HTTP scenarios as debfef5 (local checkpoint; push after exact-head full-suite gate). Initial baseline commit rebased to8b9615c after origin/main upload-concurrency PR landed. No generated artifacts in commit.
Started required implementation-removal red check: fetched/rebased first, saved exact feature HEAD in shell, temporarily restored src and build.kts from origin/main, ran the original3 HTTP scenarios with a900s hard deadline, and installed EXIT/INT/TERM restoration trap. This verifies endpoints against current main rather than a hand-written substitute. Full feature restoration is mandatory before any further tests/push.
22:02 correction: noticed two other --local runs active immediately after removal check launch, so stopped L2's run after15s rather than exceeding machine-wide limit. No runner verdict claimed. The exit restoration collided with a simultaneous git status index refresh (index.lock); after both ended, explicitly restored src/build.kts from HEAD and verified clean. Removal-red check remains PENDING and will restart when fewer than2 local runs are active. Full suite waits only on shared-machine slot, not another lane's content.
22:07 coordination: L3 findings explicitly needs an implementation checkpoint to run browser integration; current remote branch is still initial red tests because global shared-contract push gate requires full suite first. Requested an asynchronous, concrete exception decision (reviewed/committed debfef5,14/14 first-attempt HTTP tests) to allow checkpoint now while keeping full suite before PR. Until an explicit answer, existing full-before-push gate remains in force. Current two local-and-remote L1 probes occupy both allowed local slots; L2 has no test process running and restored clean feature tree. No CI or merge wait.
Runner /tmp/l2-removal-red.xml:0 passed/3 failed, each original HTTP scenario returned404 instead of200 at job start; these are HTTP assertions, not compile failures. Exact feature src/build.kts restored by exit trap; working tree verified clean at debfef5.

Read L3 integrated browser findings: held second chunk owns shared write admission while observer GET status queues behind an exclusive site barrier. Browser wait for accepted-byte progress and chunk gate form a real cycle. This violates the feature's core live-progress behavior; earlier sequential HTTP tests and reviews missed it. L3's two-browser reproducer failed first attempt at progress-advances while storage gate also expired, /tmp/l3-integrated-red.xml. Stopped obsolete L2 full run with tracked process group37095 (exit143); no full-suite pass or count claimed. Added public HTTP testUploadJobStatusAnswersDuringHeldChunk before fix: chunk0 accepted4/8bytes, hold chunk1 in real Filedrop boundary, require status to answer while chunk remains held with bytes4/percent50. Planned fix removes status GET from write admission only; one immutable listing snapshot, bounded immutable record reads, synchronized counter snapshots. Job/end/deploy writes retain their barriers. This replaces invariant-table status-row's exclusive admission with read independence; a concurrent end may appear on the next poll. No timeout/iteration weakened; full suite must rerun from new fixed head.
/tmp/l2-live-read-red.xml: first attempt0/1, TimeoutException at the5s status Future.get while second chunk is held. Mechanism: status acquired exclusive admission behind active shared chunk; observer waited for chunk, so accepted prior bytes were unreadable. Fix chooses shared admission without a digest serial key (rather than removing coordination entirely): chunks/status can overlap; exclusive job/end/deploy writes retain fences.
Independent review identified adjacent race: listing before counter snapshot can miss both the pre-commit staged counter and post-listing committed blob. Status now copies bounded counters before listing, relying on commit's storage-write-before-forget order. Terminal replies ignore copied staged bytes; cleanup is guarded by server run token. Chunk counters are reserved before storage and accepted callbacks update only that reservation; end/abandonment/eviction cannot be undone by a late callback. New deterministic HTTP regressions being authored for commit overlap and external end during a held chunk.
Existing test edit: testUploadJobStoppedRunCannotRestoreInflightBytes changes only its queue-order comment to describe the final digest-queued chunk assertion; all assertions, deadlines and iteration counts remain unchanged. README documents live reads/counter snapshot order and late-callback behavior. Previously logged planned direct bypass was superseded by shared admission after review.
22:35 OBSERVED: origin/main advanced to5ed50d5 (https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/TinySiteWui/pull/18); rebased both lane commits, now implementation9e03b3f on test0635539. Working fix preserved by autostash, no conflict. Current targeted4test compile started22:33; it predates the pending-token refinement, so final exact-head full suite will be authoritative. Review identified reservation eviction before acceptance could displace another job's accepted bytes on a refused first chunk. Revised bounded state explicitly: at most256 accepted-counter sessions plus256 pending callback tokens plus8192 accepted chunk indices, all server-global (settings lower each session-map limit). Pending reservation eviction only makes its eventual callback untracked; it does not evict accepted counters. Failure removes its own token; acceptance then applies the accepted-counter bound. This replaces our chosen256-only bookkeeping bound; the user contract specifies a fixed documented bound, not a particular numeric value. Regression includes refused new-session chunk preserving another job's staged bytes. 22:36 review refinement: shared GET admission can still sit behind an exclusive write already queued behind a held chunk. Final fix therefore bypasses write admission for GET only, retaining the snapshot/run guards and bounded pending-token rules above. README updated accordingly. Immutable listing/end snapshots mean a concurrent end can appear on the next poll; a listed end suppresses all copied staged bytes. All writes retain their existing coordination.
