Handoff: Recover snapshot-41 suite results from the existing run and update the open PR
Written 2026-10-27 06:08 UTC.
RE-VERIFY: All state below is a snapshot. Read remote run https://buildtest.kotlin.build/run?id=24c5dabd and gh pr view https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlProtocol/pull/945 --json state, headRefOid,statusCheckRollup, mergedAt before acting. The buildtest HTTP API was unavailable; Hardware Fabric read-only host queries supplied the latest run state.
Design decisions in force
Owner ruling supplied on 2026-10-27: "Question 2: (a) Authorize one fresh race for PR 945, rebased onto main." Exactly that one fresh race was launched; no second fresh race is authorized. Keep every test, assertion, timeout, heap setting and iteration count unchanged. No merge, enqueue/dequeue, production deployment/restart or artifact publication is authorized for this worker. The supervisor verifies and completes this handoff.
Mission and current state
The owner reported that the droplets WUI was unreliable due to underlying resolver/protocol behavior. Prior work fixed completed Netty result handoff upstream, published immutable snapshot-41 and prepared the consumer pin. This pickup was assigned its missing complete-suite verification before updating the existing consumer PR.
Candidate fa2c12cb80d34943f671adff2f21da3655f0916a rebased without conflicts onto main 1228066bfd53af6e7661f68e237710ab33176aa8, producing d758cc680a32ed18040e3bf47f2ad0288baeb6dd. Existing changed Kotlin bodies are coordinate-only apart from the original PR's logging fixture. The original cleanup body and all limits remain unchanged. Independent coverage and code review passes found no additional issue in this dependency-only continuation.
One invocation started 04:49:22 UTC under /home/u/lanes/hd27/kompile-full-suite.lock: scripts/test.bash --local-and-remote --test . --log /home/u/lanes/hd27/out/hq047-full.xml. Its unchanged 75-minute outer command deadline ended it with exit 124 at about 06:04 UTC. No native XML exists; first-attempt counts are unavailable. This is not a passing suite or a test-body failure. Local work remained in preparation, with declaration parsing, compiler processes, build-rule validation and dependency resolution captured in thread snapshots. cgroup memory.events reported zero max/oom/oom_kill events. All known local race processes and the bounded watcher have ended.
The same invocation's remote run is 24c5dabd, submitted 04:52:15 UTC. Its archive matches every one of the candidate's 3612 Kotlin .kt/.kts files: sorted path + per-file SHA-256 manifest 0df38dd15e4aa172a95a925a990a3c4a3f18c75fa92a5ad5d5912ac4c2d3f0b6. Remote archive SHA-256 is c43e655b48ff7738eb0d760fe0d243d3575227c21346948fb17081c0e1e35b8c. Final host read after the client deadline: PENDING, dropletId=0, empty dropletIp, 3517 discovered tests, zero executed results. This lane did not cancel or restart that run.
Build-watchman reported persistent HTTP API failures, including BuildTest service is not ready for listBuildRunsPaginated. Host metadata remained readable through Hardware Fabric. A queued run with no droplet is not evidence of a wedged executor; no infrastructure cause is claimed. The watcher ended at its unchanged bound (shell exit 124, RESULT INTERRUPTED exit=130), without any run mutation.
Final PR check at 06:05 UTC: https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlProtocol/pull/945 is OPEN, unmerged, head 468c245819c91eb5505263fb4831e527939d427c, required bld-build and bld-all-tests SUCCESS on that old head. Its branch, title and description have not been updated because the complete first-attempt-clean prerequisite is unmet. https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlProtocol/pull/954 overlaps the snapshot-41 pin and belongs to hq032; this lane never modified it.

Source checkout is clean, with no stashes. Generated launchers were moved outside the source checkout and excluded from Git. Raw remote process snapshots, unrelated run metadata, binaries and dependency caches are deliberately omitted. All partial source work is on the two remote branches above. The prior branches and publication proof are preserved in the historical record below.
Published state
No publication or production change occurred in this lane. Snapshot-41 remains the previously published immutable artifact built from upstream merged https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/jvm-libp2p/commit/25efb1996bd79e59e6eef28d2d44d9a0405fdd78 via https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/jvm-libp2p/pull/71. Fresh downloads at pickup matched jar SHA-256 2482ff751bd14b929b3e6b9ad6161ce7a645eaff1c1bad7d43423a731edbfe3d and POM SHA-256 144f73fdee0cfe6a2269c758976d6a642e588f4e619e7f602e3438bfb23cf48e. Do not republish that claimed coordinate.
Next steps and unanswered question
- Re-verify the existing run and PR first. Retain run 24c5dabd for observation or attach-only continuation when service readiness/admission permits. Do not submit a duplicate suite. The documented attach command is
scripts/test.bash --remote --attach 24c5dabd --log <xml>; it follows the existing run rather than submitting a fresh one.
- Recover complete native XML, inspect every attempt-history/attempt, and report first-attempt counts. Discovery counts and process exit are not test-body results. Diagnose each first-attempt failure through a reliable reproducer before changing code; do not rerun past it or change test settings.
- Only if all first-attempt results are clean, recheck the existing PR is OPEN, update its original branch with lease protection, use the preserved provenance draft from prior evidence with actual counts, and drive required bld-build/bld-all-tests green. If main has moved, distinguish the existing validated archive from any new head; another fresh complete race still needs owner direction. Do not merge or enqueue.
- Supervisor reconciles overlap with https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlProtocol/pull/954 and decides completion.
QUESTION left for supervisor: continue observing/attach to the exact existing remote run (recommended, preserving the one-race limit), or stop pending an admission investigation? No answer file arrived before this checkpoint. This worker is stopping BLOCKED because the bounded invocation produced no XML and the candidate's required prerequisite is incomplete.
Operational notes
Hardware Fabric CLI 0.2.6 read-only ping/find/metadata reads worked while the WUI API returned 502. Its broad launch stdout ended inside JSON despite success; narrow queries yielded complete records. The report-challenge helper was not invoked because it automatically enqueues/merges, forbidden here. Handoff RUNNING reports were stored; separate usage ingestion sometimes failed on malformed inherited transcript JSON or a transport error. The service body updates were confirmed, including the previously ambiguous write. No subagents or timers were created.
Historical handoff and checkpoint record
Everything below is earlier write-time context, superseded by the terminal state above where it differs.
Handoff: Complete UrlProtocol snapshot-41 suite verification and update the open PR
Written 2026-10-26T20:35:35.032721+00:00.
RE-VERIFY: this is a write-time snapshot. Recheck https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlProtocol/pull/945 with gh pr view, check the remote branch SHAs, and download the published jar and POM before acting.
Evidence checkpoint — 2026-10-27 05:41 UTC
Race evidence branch, remote head 976cd23cbaa8567b46fcba442941218f1c604593, records findings, the own-run metadata, matching 3612-file code manifest, compressed race log and preparation stacks under investigation/HQ047/. It is evidence only and has no PR. The PR candidate remains fix/hq047-snapshot41-suite at d758cc680a32ed18040e3bf47f2ad0288baeb6dd. Raw remote process snapshots and unrelated run records are omitted; no build outputs or dependency caches are committed.
Verified active race — 2026-10-27 05:38 UTC
The one authorized fresh race is still active from rebased candidate d758cc680a32ed18040e3bf47f2ad0288baeb6dd. Remote run: https://buildtest.kotlin.build/run?id=24c5dabd . Read-only Hardware Fabric metadata shows PENDING, submitted 04:52:15 UTC, selector ['.'], 3517 discovered tests and zero executed results. Its archive has all 3612 Kotlin source/script files matching the candidate: sorted path + file-SHA-256 manifest hash 0df38dd15e4aa172a95a925a990a3c4a3f18c75fa92a5ad5d5912ac4c2d3f0b6. Archive SHA-256: c43e655b48ff7738eb0d760fe0d243d3575227c21346948fb17081c0e1e35b8c. No new suite or remote cancellation was used to recover this identity.
The local side is still compiling in a second BuildscriptRunner process. Native XML is absent. The buildtest HTTP API returns 502; build-watchman is attached read-only, with Hardware Fabric used for host ground truth. A queued PENDING run is not a wedged executor. The target PR remains OPEN at its old head and has not been updated. The original full-suite shell command has a 75-minute outer deadline ending about 06:04 UTC; no test timeout or JVM heap changed. The worker has a 100-minute assignment limit ending about 06:16 UTC. Do not start another race without owner direction.
Current checkpoint — 2026-10-27 04:49 UTC
Owner direction supplied to hq047: "Question 2: (a) Authorize one fresh race for PR 945, rebased onto main." This supersedes the earlier pending question about another race. Exactly one scripts/test.bash --local-and-remote --test . --log ... invocation is running under /home/u/lanes/hd27/kompile-full-suite.lock; no tests, assertions, heap settings, iteration counts or time bounds changed. A second full suite is not authorized.
Rebased candidate: https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlProtocol/tree/fix/hq047-snapshot41-suite at d758cc680a32ed18040e3bf47f2ad0288baeb6dd, based on main 1228066bfd53af6e7661f68e237710ab33176aa8. The original source branch and published-artifact evidence below remain valid. Published jar and POM were downloaded again and match both recorded hashes. Target https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlProtocol/pull/945 remains OPEN at 468c245819c91eb5505263fb4831e527939d427c and has not been updated. Effective requirements are bld-build and bld-all-tests; current workflows race build/test execution, script pins 0.0.125. Overlap: https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/UrlProtocol/pull/954 also selects snapshot-41 and is owned by hq032; hq047 does not modify it.
The previous snapshot follows unchanged for provenance. Its old no-lock instruction is superseded by the assigned machine-wide lock, and its pending one-race decision is superseded above. Current lane findings are /home/u/lanes/hd27/out/hq047-findings.md; race XML/log paths are /home/u/lanes/hd27/out/hq047-full.xml and /home/u/lanes/hd27/out/hq047-full.log. No complete-suite result exists yet.
Design decisions in effect
User direction dated 2026-10-26: "Do not merge or enqueue." "never overwrite a claimed version". The objective explicitly authorized publication of snapshot-41 after the upstream merge. No other artifact publication or production change is authorized. The brief requires a complete-suite race and specifies one race; both clients ended before XML, and permission for another race is pending. No second race was started.
Mission summary
The owner reported that https://droplets.wasmserver.com/ "is super unreliable, frequently rendering various errors/notices due to bugs in UrlResolver or UrlProtocol or something else" and asked for the underlying root cause to be fixed. The latest queue check for the open consumer PR reached a missing completed-close result in libp2p. This lane was asked to publish merged upstream snapshot-41, then update and verify the consumer PR without merging or enqueueing it. Publication is complete. Full-suite verification and the actual consumer PR update remain.
What was found and done
- Upstream https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/jvm-libp2p/pull/71 is MERGED at https://github.com/CodexCoder21Organization/jvm-libp2p/commit/25efb1996bd79e59e6eef28d2d44d9a0405fdd78 . The repository uses develop as its default branch and has no origin/main. A fresh clone was fetched and rebased against origin/develop and built from that exact merged source before any evidence records were added.
- Snapshot-41 jar and POM each returned HTTP 404 before upload. Gradle :libp2p:jar and :libp2p:generatePomFileForMavenJavaPublication with -PmavenArtifactId=jvm-libp2p succeeded. The standard Maven publisher 0.0.6 uploaded the staged jar and POM once and exited 0. Downloaded bytes and a new Coursier-cache retrieval match both files. The clean cache resolved 47 jars.
- OBSERVED mechanism: converting an already-completed Netty close result by scheduling a listener on a full executor queue can leave the converted Java result pending even after accepted tasks and a barrier finish. The upstream fix observes terminal results directly before and after listener registration. The consumer completed-close test is red on attempts 1/2/3 under snapshot-25, green on attempt 1 under published snapshot-41, red again on attempts 1/2/3 when just the production declaration and new test select snapshot-25 again, then green on attempt 1 after restoring snapshot-41.
- The existing consumer PR was rebased. The candidate carries the supplied F71 pin branch's libp2p coordinate selections and new completed-close test. All 2696 existing Kotlin-script changes are coordinate text only; one additional Kotlin test selects snapshot-41. README names the release. The extra cleanup wait from the source pin branch was not copied: the original cleanup body is unchanged after normalizing only its artifact coordinate. The original PR logging-test adjustment is retained, preserving the real transport check beyond the 256 KiB compact boundary.
- The original cleanup scenario passes 10/10 independent runtime runs on attempt 1. The original PR target plus two related queue checks also pass on attempt 1, for thirteen measured consumer checks. A prior preparation-only invocation had time 0 because the standard Kotlin test jar URL could not establish a connection; the exact URL subsequently returned 200 before measured runs began. This invocation is preserved separately and is not counted as a runtime pass.
- Both required complete-suite clients started from fa2c12cb80d34943f671adff2f21da3655f0916a. Remote preparation exited 1: health RPC was not started at the build service's concurrent request-handler limit of 256. No run ID exists to attach to. Local preparation exited 137 after roughly nine minutes and produced no XML. Its log shows 29 script compilation completions and later workspace-discovery warnings. The cgroup limit is 10737418240 bytes, peak 10740391936 bytes, and post-exit usage was 9722646528 bytes. These counters cover concurrent lanes and do not identify which process triggered a limit event. System log access returned 1, so the exact source of exit 137 is not established. No complete-suite test verdict is available.
- Both clients are terminal, no background compiler or transfer remains from this lane, both source checkouts are clean, and no task goal or timer was created. An incomplete transfer-only clone and an untracked generated compatibility jar were removed. The consumer PR branch and description have NOT been updated. No required-CI watcher was started. No merge, queue entry, production deployment, production restart, or CI rerun was performed.

Next steps
- Re-verify the current state first. Ask whether the one-race limit is relaxed before another complete-suite launch. The pending question offers either stopping with these findings or one new attempt from the same source with a 1.5 GiB JVM heap cap. That cap has not been tried and is not a proven explanation or fix for exit 137.
- Fresh-clone UrlProtocol into the new lane's own writable workspace using gh repo clone. Check out the candidate branch, read README, fetch and rebase current main, and inspect any changes since this snapshot. Do not republish snapshot-41.
- If another complete suite is authorized, obtain complete XML with all test results passing on their first attempt. Original race commands were scripts/test.bash --local --test . --log <local.xml> and scripts/test.bash --remote --test . --log <remote.xml>. Preserve any new run ID; if a remote client exits 2 with a run ID, attach with --remote --attach <runId>. Never stop an active remote client. No local suite lock is required. Do not change assertions, time bounds, or iteration counts.
- Targeted commands use --local --test tests/testCompletedCloseRemainsObservableWithPendingRootTasks.kts and --local --test tests/testRejectedDrainLoggingDoesNotHoldOutboxMonitor.kts, each with --log <xml>. Read attempt-history/attempt; absence of attempt history for a successful nonzero-duration test means one attempt. Preparation-only time-0 errors are not runtime passes. The other measured targets were tests/testOrdinaryGossipFailureLoggingFailureIsIsolated.kts, tests/testRejectedDrainRecordsRejectionAndPreservesFatal.kts, and tests/testReviewFatalDrainSchedulingRejectionDoesNotStrandSibling.kts. Each was run once with --local --test <path> --log <xml>. The neutral labels pr-target-1, neighbor-1, and neighbor-2 in consumer-results.json refer to those paths in that order.
- After the complete-suite prerequisite passes, recheck that the existing PR is OPEN, update its original head branch fix/FLKGOS-645251e6-gossip-logging-order with the candidate using lease protection, and update its description from the saved draft with actual complete-suite counts. Preserve the required provenance opening and closing line. Do not create a replacement PR just for the pin unless the original PR has already merged.
- Watch required CI using coursier launch buildwatchman:build-watchman:0.0.21 -r https://kotlin.directory -- --repo CodexCoder21Organization/UrlProtocol --pr 945. Use plain --pr. No merge or queue operation is authorized.
Operational knowledge
Use the lane's own writable workspace; /code/workspace is not writable. Clone with gh repo clone and read README before work. Configure Git identity locally before committing or rebasing. Keep published coordinates immutable. Record setup errors separately from test-body results. The standard report-challenge helper creates and merges a separate report; this lane's no-merge rule prevented that helper from running. The current create-handoff skill uses the central service with no PR; its linked format README still contains a former git publication section, which was not followed. Built jars and dependency caches were deliberately omitted from Git because the published artifact is independently retrievable and byte-verified.
