sandboxjvm runAllTests.sh requests an unavailable linuxX64Test task on Linux arm64 hosts.

Reported (UTC): 2026-07-14 08:50

sandboxjvm runAllTests.sh requests an unavailable linuxX64Test task on Linux arm64 hosts.

What was being attempted: run the sandboxjvm repository's authoritative all-tests command before publishing an upstream fix.

What went wrong: runAllTests.sh sets TEST_CMD="jvmTest --rerun linuxX64Test --rerun" for every uname containing Linux, while build.gradle only configures linuxX64() when os.linux && arch.amd64. On this aarch64 host, Gradle therefore has no linuxX64Test task and the script cannot be the authoritative local command. The relevant architecture evidence is uname -m = aarch64.

Impact: agents on Linux arm64 cannot run the documented all-stdlib test script as written; they must manually run the JVM portions and defer linuxX64 coverage to amd64 CI, which makes local verification less complete and the script's failure misleading.

Workaround used: run ./gradlew jvmTest --rerun locally with the isolated Gradle home, then rely on the repository's amd64 GitHub Actions job to execute runAllTests.sh including linuxX64Test.

Suggested durable fix: make runAllTests.sh add linuxX64Test only when uname -m is x86_64/amd64 (matching build.gradle), or configure an appropriate linuxArm64 target/task and select it on aarch64.

Status: STILL EXISTS. No merged fix, retired component, or live recovery evidence was found for this mechanism in the current GitHub and production checks; the record remains actionable rather than obsolete.

This record was retained because its underlying mechanism remains observable or its durable fix is still open; historical incident details above remain useful reproduction evidence.
