The hardware-fabric-processes skill mandates HardwareControlFabric as the preferred

Reported (UTC): 2026-07-15 18:41

The hardware-fabric-processes skill mandates HardwareControlFabric as the preferred production-host control path and documents mTLS files at /home/helena/.config/hardware-control-fabric/fabric-client-cert.pem, fabric-client-key.pem, and fabric-server-cert.pem. During build-watchman remediation for wedged BuildTest run 9d2357ab, the CLI failed immediately with 'Certificate file not found: /home/helena/.config/hardware-control-fabric/fabric-client-cert.pem'; the directory contained no files, and a broader search under /home/helena found none of the alternate documented certificate names either. Impact: the required preferred production-management path is unusable from this standard agent environment, forcing last-resort SSH for a scoped buildtest-cli delete. Workaround: raw SSH per the management hierarchy after proving fabric unavailable. Durable fix: provision the mTLS credentials into the documented location for agent hosts, or update the skill with the actual credential provider/path and an automated preflight command.

Status: STILL EXISTS. No merged fix, retired component, or live recovery evidence was found for this mechanism in the current GitHub and production checks; the record remains actionable rather than obsolete.

This record was retained because its underlying mechanism remains observable or its durable fix is still open; historical incident details above remain useful reproduction evidence.
